To the Editor:

I very much enjoyed the Oct. 4 article on Main Line movie theaters, especially the Egyptian (now the Bala) on Bala Avenue.

Growing up, I spent practically every Saturday afternoon there (except during Lent), fortified by a bag of penny candy from Pop Goldich’s tiny store next door and mesmerized by the ongoing “serials” such as the one about that villain Dr. Fu Manchu.
